I've been roaming Night City for what feels like forever now. Can you believe it's 2025 and we're still talking about Cyberpunk 2077? Almost five years after that dumpster fire of a launch (sorry CDPR, but we all remember), this game has somehow transformed into one of the most respected open-world RPGs out there. Like a phoenix rising from extremely glitchy ashes.

The Comeback Kid

Let's be real - Cyberpunk 2077's redemption arc has been more impressive than most of the storylines in the actual game. After Phantom Liberty dropped and actually worked properly (shocking, I know), people who had sworn off the game forever came crawling back. Including yours truly.

And now we're all buzzing about Update 2.3, which CDPR has been teasing as basically free DLC. It was supposed to launch last month on June 26th, but in classic Cyberpunk fashion, it got delayed. Though to be fair, this time they're delaying to make sure it's actually good rather than pushing out another bug-fest. Growth! 🙌

What's in the Box?

The 2.2 update already gave us some pretty sweet additions:

  • Enhanced photo mode (for all you virtual influencers)

  • Custom vehicle paints (because my Quadra needed that hot pink makeover)

  • Expanded character customization (finally fixed my V's weird hairline)

So what could 2.3 possibly bring to the table? Well, I've got a wish list longer than Judy's tattoo collection, but there's one thing at the very top...

New Game Plus: The Dream That Won't Die

I've been begging for New Game Plus since I first finished the game back in the day. And I'm not alone! The community has been asking for this forever, but CDPR keeps giving us the same excuses:

  1. "We'd have to rebalance EVERYTHING" 🙄

  2. "Skill checks would break" 😒

  3. "V would be too powerful and it would ruin the narrative" 🤔

But come on, it's 2025! You've had literally years to figure this out. And honestly, would it be so bad if my second playthrough let me feel like the unstoppable merc I'm supposed to be? Sometimes I just want to steamroll Arasaka without breaking a sweat!

Perfect Timing

Here's why I think Update 2.3 is the perfect excuse to finally add New Game Plus:

The game is probably at the end of its major update cycle. Let's face it - CDPR is neck-deep in The Witcher 4 development, and they've been dropping hints about a Cyberpunk sequel. This could be our last big hurrah for the original Night City adventure.

What better way to send off Cyberpunk 2077 than letting us experience it one more time with all our hard-earned gear and abilities? It would be the ultimate victory lap around Night City. I want to walk into Lizzie's Bar at level 50 with legendary everything and watch Dex's jaw hit the floor.

The Reality Check

But I'm not getting my hopes up too high. CDPR has been pretty stubborn about this particular feature. Maybe there are technical limitations we don't understand. Maybe they genuinely believe it would ruin the experience.

Or maybe—just maybe—they're saving it as a surprise. Can you imagine the goodwill they'd earn by casually dropping New Game Plus after years of saying no? The internet would explode. Reddit would be unusable for weeks. I'd personally call in sick to work for at least three days.

What Else Could We Get?

If we don't get New Game Plus (still not over it), I'm expecting:

  • More quality-of-life improvements (please fix the minimap while driving!)

  • Some fan service Easter eggs

  • Maybe more apartment options?

  • Additional cyberware or weapons

  • More customization options for... everything?

Whatever we get, I'll be there day one, jacking in and ready to go. Because despite its flaws, Night City has become a second home to me.

So here's to Update 2.3, whatever it brings. And CDPR, if you're reading this (you're not), PLEASE GIVE US NEW GAME PLUS! My Mantis Blades and I are ready for round two! 🤖🔪

What do you choombas think? Are you still playing in 2025? What are you hoping to see in the update? I'll be in the comments, probably arguing with someone about the best ending...
